We are grateful for the energy and commitment of our volunteers. If you have some time that you would like to give to your community and you feel that volunteering for Community Transport might suit you, please give us a call and have a chat.
All volunteers undergo a police check and child check. Drivers have a three yearly medical and must be prepared to have the currency of their licence checked regularly.
Any volunteer who uses their own vehicle on our behalf (even just to pick up one of our vehicles) must have that vehicle comprehensively insured.
There are a number of roles for volunteers in the organisation:
Board Members – who oversee the governance of the organisation and, without whom, there would be no service
Project Vehicles Drivers – who undertake driving duties in either our modified buses or our cars. Bus drivers must have an LR licence or higher.
Car Pool Drivers – who drive their own cars to take our passengers to appointments (we are no longer recruiting for this group.)
Bus Assistants – who provide a friendly smile and some assistance to passengers who need a little extra help
Volunteers are not paid! Not because they’re worthless but because they’re priceless!
